A roof repair is a diagnosis before it is a job. Water rarely enters where the stain appears, so the first thing we do is work out where it actually gets in, not where it shows up.
The shared valley gutter is the recurring repair on the terraces off All Saints Road. One valley serves two houses, so patching your half and leaving the neighbour's timber wet only moves the leak. On Fordham Road the failures are lead and iron: long hips that have crept and split at the fixings, and cast iron runs where a joint has opened and is washing the wall behind instead of the drain. Around the town centre the interwar and post-war stock has reached the point where a cracked concrete tile is the symptom and the mortar-bedded ridge is the actual job. We lift, re-bed and re-secure to the original spec, replace any defective batten or membrane underneath, and finish so the repair sits visually with the rest of the roof rather than announcing itself.
