Fascias and soffits in Ipswich, Felixstowe, Woodbridge and across Suffolk, from one rotten board to a full uPVC roofline with new guttering. Ring 01473 974920 or use the form and Tom books your free survey.

The fascia carries your gutter and the bottom edge of the roof. Once the timber goes soft, brackets pull out, the gutter sags and water reaches the rafter feet. Getting the boards right is what makes the rest of the roofline last.

The work

What fascia and soffit work covers

  • Rotten fascia boards replacedSoft, split or swollen timber is taken off and replaced with uPVC fascia fixed back to sound rafter feet, so the gutter has something solid to hang from.
  • Capping, only over sound timberCapping clips a uPVC cover over the old boards. On sound timber it is a fair saving. Over rot it hides the problem while it spreads, so we only cap boards that pass the survey and the photographs show which you have.
  • SoffitsSplit, sagging or missing soffit boards are replaced in uPVC to close the underside of the eaves and keep birds and weather out of the roof space.
  • Full roofline replacementGutters, fascias and soffits replaced together in one job, with the access paid for once instead of three times.
  • Gutters refitted to the new boardsFascia work means the gutter comes down. It goes back up on new brackets, set to the right fall, or is replaced if the old run is past it.
  • The eaves while the boards are offWith the fascia off, the felt at the eaves and the bottom course of tiles are in plain view. Perished felt and slipped tiles are photographed and priced while the access is already up.

How we quote and how we work

We survey from a ladder or tower, press-test the timber and photograph every board, bracket and the eaves behind them. The photographs come with a fixed written quote that says plainly whether each run is capped or replaced. Capping is quoted where the timber is sound. Full replacement is quoted where it is not, and you see the rot in the photographs before you agree to anything.

Where this work goes wrong

The expensive mistake is capping over rotten boards: the uPVC looks new on day one while the timber behind keeps rotting, and the gutter brackets go with it. The other is new boards with the old, tired gutter screwed back on. We check both, and if the gutter is failing we price gutter repairs in Ipswich in the same quote.

What moves the price. Fascia and soffit work is priced as a fixed job, never a day rate. The length of the run, the height and whether the boards are capped or replaced move the figure most. Build your roofline price in 60 seconds.

Straight answers

Fascias and soffits: common questions

Should I replace my fascias or cap over them?

If the timber is sound, capping is fine and saves money. If it is soft or rotten, capping hides the rot while it spreads behind the uPVC. The survey photographs show which one you have before you decide.

Do you replace the guttering at the same time?

The gutter has to come down for fascia work. It goes back up on new brackets at the right fall, or we quote a new run if the old one is failing. Many customers have gutters, fascias and soffits done together as one full roofline job.

How much do fascias and soffits cost in Ipswich?

Every roofline job is a fixed price in writing, never a day rate. The run length, the height and capping versus full replacement move the figure most. The price builder on our costs page gives you a range in 60 seconds.

Will you check the roof while the boards are off?

Yes. With the fascia off, the eaves felt and the bottom course of tiles are in plain view. Anything wrong is photographed and priced while the access is already up.

Is fascia and soffit work guaranteed?

Yes. Your written workmanship guarantee is issued with the invoice, alongside the before and after photographs, and the manufacturer warranty on the uPVC applies on top.
